There is no universal definition of perfect seats. Each audience member chooses the ideal spot, depending on their preferences and budget. Plan to arrive at the ballet at least 30 minutes before the curtain. This will give you time to find your seat, settle in, and get ready for the performance. If you are seeing a popular ballet, you should arrive even earlier to make sure you’ll get to your seat in time.

New York City Ballet has no dress code, but visitors might want to dress up a little more elegantly than usual. Ballet is a very elegant and sophisticated art form, so many believe that dressing nicely for ballet shows respect for the dancers and the art form itself.
