Nominations Announced for 2017 Tony Awards

The nominees for the 2017 Tony Awards were announced live this morning at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Broadway vets Jane Krakowski and Christopher Jackson read the nominations, singling out the cream of this year's Broadway crop. This season has been an embarrassment of Broadway riches, and while it seems almost impossible to judge the "best" of any of these shows, this list comes close.

Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 scored the most nominations, with 12 nominations for its impressive immersive staging. The Bette Midler-led Hello, Dolly! wasn't far behind, earning 10 nominations. Other big winners this morning were Dear Evan Hansen (9 nominations), A Doll's House, Part 2 (8 nominations), and Come From Away (7 nominations). The Tony Awards take place live on Sunday, June 11.
