New Principals Roar in Broadway's The Lion King Today

A new dynasty takes over at Broadway’s long-running The Lion King July 5 when Derek Smith, Cameron Pow and Adrienne Walker join the cast as Scar, Zazu and Nala, respectively.

Tony Award nominee and Obie winner Smith (The Green Bird) returns to the Broadway company, where he previously performed the role of Scar beginning in 2000, having also played the role on the North American tour. He's also a winner of the Clarence Derwent Award. He is scheduled to perform through October 9, at which point Gareth Saxe will resume the role. Pow was the second actor to play Zazu on the North American tour beginning in 2003 and has also played the role on Broadway and London’s West End.
