Video: When Laura Met Cynthia

Video

This year's revival of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes stars two Broadway legends giving four magnificent performances. If that arithmetic doesn't seem to add up, maybe you haven't heard that the two leading ladies will be alternating roles. Cynthia Nixon and Laura Linney, who have enough awards between them to fill a bookcase or two, will be sharing the roles of Regina and Birdie. When one actress plays the role of Regina, the other will play Birdie, and they'll switch roles every couple of performances.

This is a thrilling idea for a production, since it gives fans the chance to see different takes on the same iconic roles. Regina is a role that has been played by actors as impressive as Tallulah Bankhead, Bette Davis, and Elizabeth Taylor, and now we'll get to see two new interpretations. In the video below, listen to Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon talk about how this idea came about. The Little Foxes is now playing on Broadway, with performances through June 18, 2017.
