Video: Tim Minchin Talks Groundhog Day

Video

Based on the hit film, Groundhog Day is the story of Phil Connors, a big city weatherman who comes to a small town and is mysteriously forced to relive the same day over and over again — with results that are both hilarious and moving. The musical brings together the screenwriter of the classic Bill Murray film with the brilliant composer behind Matilda, Tim Minchin. Groundhog Day stars Broadway vet Andy Karl, and both he and the show earned rave reviews in London. Ben Brantley from The New York Times had this to say: “[Groundhog Day] transforms Andy Karl into the top-of-the-heap musical star he has long deserved to be. I grinned all the way through this bright whirligig of a show.”

In the video below, composer and lyricist Tim Minchin talks about the challenges of turning the film into a Broadway musical. Groundhog Day starts preview performances March 16th, so don't miss your chance to get tickets in advance by visiting the show page below.
