A Bronx Tale the Musical was just named a Critics Pick by The New York Times. It opened last week, on December 1, 2016, at Broadway's Longacre Theatre. The musical's warm reception shouldn't surprise anyone, especially when you consider the kind of immense talent that makes up the creative team: Alan Menken (winner of eight Academy Awards, eleven Grammy Awards, and a Tony Award) wrote the music, and Robert De Niro (winner of two Academy Awards) directed the musical along with Jerry Zaks (winner of four Tony Awards).
The musical tells the story of a young man who is torn between listening to his nice-guy father or the slick mob boss he admires. If that sounds familiar, you may know this story from Chazz Palminteri's one-man show or the 1993 film starring Robert De Niro. Even if you're a fan of the play or film, you've never see the story told quite like this. With a toe-tapping doo-wop score by Alan Menken, this story about growing up and the choices we make will leave you smiling from ear to ear.
