When The Band's Visit premiered Off-Broadway last year, it received a host of accolades and found itself at the top of many critics' year-end lists of best musicals. The musical tells the story of an Egyptian band that mistakenly finds themselves in a remote town in Israel. Forced to rely on the generosity of strangers, The Band's Visit shows the power of love, laughter, and music to connect us all.
After the run Off-Broadway, the show's stars found themselves on Broadway in different shows: Tony Shalhoub in Arthur Miller's The Price and Katrina Lenk in Indecent. For a while, it seemed like we might not get to see the stars continue on in the roles they originated. Fear not! In the video below, Katrina Lenk, who earned rave reviews for her performance as one of the Israeli residents of the far-flung town, sings one of the show's new songs. David Yazbek, the show's composer, also provides a context for what the character is singing about.
The Band's Visit arrives at Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre on October 7, 2017. Visit the show page below to purchase tickets for your group.
