The design team behind Broadway's Anastasia had quite a challenge on their hands: namely, bring the beloved animated film to brilliant life on stage. The new musical, which tells the story of a young girl discovering the mystery of her past, takes audiences on a journey from the opulent palaces of Russia to the dingy streets of the early Soviet era and eventually to Paris and the glitz of the 1920s. Costumes range from glittering ballgowns to grungy street clothes, and the stage must make dozens of transformations throughout the course of the evening.
