Each and every group is unique. Whether you're celebrating your team's big win or taking your school's Drama Club to Broadway for the first time, each group has its own specific wants and needs when it comes to picking the perfect Broadway show. Fortunately, no one knows Broadway better than our staff at Broadway Inbound. We're lucky enough to see almost every show that opens on Broadway, which makes every staff member on our team a bona fide theatre expert.
There's nothing we love more than talking about our favorite shows, so we've assembled a list of some of our current Staff Picks. This month, we're bringing you the shows we can't wait to see in the new year. Read the picks below, and stay tuned for even more Staff Picks next month.
Chanelle’s Pick: Rocktopia
Chanelle Recommends: I love musical artists like Escala, Lindsey Stirling and Bond. These ladies turned classical music on its head. So naturally I was intrigued when I heard about Rocktopia. I watched the PBS special that broadcasted from Budapest last summer and fell in love. The performance that fused “Lascia Ch'io Pianga” by George Frideric Handel and Elton John’s “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” was incredible. I cannot wait to see this show on Broadway!
Perfect For: Lovers of classical music or rock music, or anyone just looking for something a little different and exciting.
Rocktopia in Three Words: Mozart meets Journey.
Meet Chanelle: Chanelle loves every aspect of putting on a show, from the ideation to the curtain call. “Believe it or not, my favorite part of any performance is the curtain call. It’s an incredibly powerful moment, the cast just put their whole heart and soul into the performance, and the audience in turn gets to show how much they appreciated it.” Chanelle’s all-time favorite show is Rent.

Jered’s Pick: Hello, Dolly!
Jered Recommends: I highly recommend Hello, Dolly! and I can’t wait for Bernadette Peters to join the cast! I saw the show with Bette Midler on my birthday last year and my face hurt from laughing and smiling so much! I have always been a huge fan of Bernadette Peters and have seen many of her performances over the years, she is such a unique and charismatic performer. I am so excited to see what she brings to the role of Dolly.
Perfect For: Literally everyone. I can’t imagine anyone leaving the theatre feeling anything but satisfied and full of joy.
Hello, Dolly! in Three Words: Gorgeous, Hilarious, Legendary.
Meet Jered: Theatre and Broadway has always been Jered’s passion – both as a participant and as a spectator. There is no one thing that solidified it, it was a combination of many. He has a BFA in Musical Theatre, moved to NYC right after graduating college, and has worked in various parts of the industry for his entire adult life. Jered’s all-time favorite show is Guys and Dolls.

Amanda’s Pick: The Band’s Visit
Amanda Recommends: The Band’s Visit. This show tells a very small story about a day where two very different groups of people come together and choose to help each other. This is a story of missed connections, possibilities, loss, change, and hope. The music is slight and haunting; the voices are clear and singular.
Perfect For: Anyone who loves musical theatre ages junior high and up would love this unique tale.
The Band’s Visit in Three Words: Enchanting, Melancholy, Absorbing.
Meet Amanda: Her first trip to Broadway was when she was 18: she came with her grandmother, who had grown up on a farm and had never seen the big city before. During that trip, as she watched her grandmother cry with laughter during Spamalot, she realized how powerful it can be to make someone's Broadway dreams come true. Amanda’s all-time favorite show is Come From Away.

Peter’s Pick: Frozen
Peter Recommends: I saw Frozen in Denver and was truly enchanted by it. The talent is top notch, the music is charming, and the Disney magic is on full display. The moment when Elsa’s dress magically changes to her signature blue gown during “Let It Go” is a true “WOW!” moment. This show has the story that all the kids will know, really fun segments and a lot of heart at the end when sisterly love takes center stage.
Perfect For: This show is perfect for kids and families who know and love the Disney brand and for any curious theatergoers who are looking for a little magic.
Frozen in Three Words: Charm, Heart, Magic.
Meet Peter: Peter grew up in a family of musicians and actors, and he has been seeing theatre for as long as he can remember. Peter loves the New York theatre community, saying, "Making theatre involves so many different people, but everyone is in it for the same goal: to create and share art, and hopefully better understand the world we're living in." Peter’s all-time favorite show is The Music Man.
