NYC the Cirque Way: For Travelers on a Budget

The Broadway Collection

New York City: A mecca for tourists to indulge in food from every culture on the planet, see amazing sights, and of course experience the thrill of seeing a live Broadway show. All of that can hit the wallet where it hurts, but Broadway Inbound has a few tips to have an awesome time in New York on a budget.

Travelers looking to do more and spend less will want to visit during winter time, which is a low season for the Big Apple. Sure it’s chilly, but flights and hotel rates are lowered, and events and excursions remain as plentiful as ever. As an incentive for winter visitors (and locals), the city offers its popular Restaurant Week. More than 380 restaurants offer fantastic deals on prix-fixe dining for lunch and dinner, with options suitable for all palates.

This winter is the time to book tickets for Cirque du Soleil Theatrical’s Paramour, which closes April 16 after an incredible and dazzling year on Broadway. Ticket prices have never been better, and in addition to the show, Paramour audiences get to see the beautiful Lyric Theater, one of the grandest theatres on Broadway. The show, which combines musical theatre with the artistry of Cirque du Soleil, tells the tale of a young starlet, torn between the Hollywood director who gave her fame and the sensitive musician who’s been with her from the beginning.

Taking inspiration from Cirque du Soleil Theatrical, Lauren Spinelli from TimeOut New York followed the singing, dancing, and soaring cast of Paramour around New York City to see some of their favorite spots, including The American Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and Brooklyn Bridge Park and DUMBO. Check it out, and experience New York City—the Cirque way.

There are a million fun things to do in NYC without breaking the bank, if you know when to visit. Travelers to New York City can experience major attractions, amazing theatre, and great food—without the crowds—by booking their flights for the low season. And if you’re taking advantage of low winter rates, don’t miss Cirque du Soleil’s absolutely stunning Paramour before it closes on April 16.
