New Simba Set to Roar in Broadway's The Lion King

The cast of the Broadway production of the Tony-winning musical The Lion King will welcome Vincent Jamal Hooper as Simba beginning September 26 at the Minskoff Theatre. Hooper, who will be making his Broadway debut, will succeed current cast member Brandon A. McCall, who will play his final performance September 24.

Hooper, seen Off-Broadway in White Girl in Danger, has performed around the world in multiple companies of Hamilton (including in Puerto Rico alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda), playing the roles of Hamilton, Burr, Lafayette/Jefferson, George Washington, and King George III. His screen credits include Chicago Med, Shots Fired, and American Crime.

The Tony-winning musical officially opened November 13, 1997, at the New Amsterdam Theatre, subsequently transferring to the Minskoff Theatre in June 2006. There have been 27 touring and international productions over the life of the show, seen by 112 million people....READ MORE
