The SYTA Youth Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating life-changing experiences for students through travel and cultural immersion. Founded in 2000 as the philanthropic arm of the Student & Youth Travel Association, the Foundation believes that travel is essential to a complete education and that exposure to new places, people, and ideas helps young people become confident, connected, and globally responsible citizens.
Empowering Students Through Scholarships and Programs
At the heart of the Foundation’s mission are its programs and scholarships designed to remove financial barriers that often prevent students from participating in enriching travel experiences. The Road Scholarship Program, established in 2002, awards funds to students and groups who might otherwise be unable to afford educational travel. These awards help schools and youth organizations expand their students’ horizons by visiting museums, historical sites, and landmarks across the country.
Other initiatives include the World Is a Classroom Essay Contest, which invites students to reflect on how travel has shaped their worldview, and the Global Citizens Challenge, an online program that connects youth from around the world in collaborative learning.
Bringing Broadway to Students
One of the Foundation’s most inspiring offerings is the Students on Broadway program. Through a partnership with Disney Theatrical Group and the TDF Stage Doors program, the Foundation provides students with complimentary tickets and guided access to Broadway shows. This unique initiative introduces young people to live theatre, combining arts education with unforgettable cultural experiences.
