Getting The Beat At Head Over Heels

Broadway Inbound

Last week, team members from Broadway Inbound headed west to San Francisco to have a peek at the pre-Broadway run of Head Over Heels, the fresh and flashy new musical featuring the music of The Go-Go’s, set to premiere at the Hudson Theatre this summer.

We quickly learned that Head Over Heels was not a musical about The Go-Go’s. Rather, picture this: an Elizabethan king and queen, two princesses eager to be married off, and a prophecy threatening the town’s greatest treasure—their “beat.” Get it?

Now wrap it all up in a neon bow with mistaken identities, sexual awakenings, and the hottest hits of one of the 1980s most legendary and influential bands, and you have Head Over Heels. This clever mashup of seemingly contradictory worlds is what sets you up for a wild night of belly laughs like no other.

One of the breakouts in Head Over Heels is drag diva Peppermint, a fan-favorite on Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the first transgender woman to create a principal role on Broadway. She joins a diverse cast of multi-talented performers, particularly the ensemble of powerhouse contemporary dancers. The intense choreography from Emmy®-nominee Spencer Liff (So You Think You Can Dance) keeps them on their toes.

But it’s the ‘80s pop hits like “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “We Got The Beat,” “Cool Jerk,” and “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” that totally bring the house down.

Our team had a fabulous time catching Head Over Heels before it comes to Broadway. The show is a fun, clever new musical with a modern sensibility, and a fantastic celebration how unique and diverse we all are It was two hours of pure, unadulterated joy.

After the show, we wanted to keep the party going. You will too! Visit the show page at the bottom to book your tickets and join the party now.
