A Very Wicked Halloween

Broadway Inbound

As a fan of Wicked, the celebration for their 15th anniversary on Broadway has been a wonderful time to reflect on why this show is still so, dare I say it, popular! The music, the incredible story of friendship, and the vibrant stage craft happening every night at the Gershwin are just a few examples that come to mind.

In celebration of the anniversary, the team at Wicked has some very fun happenings and events for everyone to feel so Ozmopolitan. From exclusive flavors of desserts at Schmackarys and Baked By Melissa to a concert on NBC that will be broadcasted tonight at 10 pm ET, you can be sure to get your Wicked fill in time to celebrate the 15 successful years on Broadway any way you please.

I had the chance to attend the dress rehearsal for the taping of A Very Wicked Halloween. We were asked to dress up in Wicked inspired costumes for the taping. I chose to dress as a Shiz Universtiy student, but it was great to see the variety of costumes at the taping, noticeably a bunch of Elphabas, Glindas, and one Madame Morrible.

It was a wonderful moment to be able to share with fellow fans who love Wicked as much as I do. The energy in the room was electric. The reunion of Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel was magical, and it was so special to watch them explain how much the show means to them while also giving us some insider facts. We also got to hear them sing which was the BEST part of the event. Besides the two original stars, the range of singers lined up will be sure to please everyone, with performances by Adam Lambert, Ledisi, Ariana Grande and Penatonix to name a few. I am ecstatic that NBC will be allowing fans from all over to watch this wonderful celebration from their living rooms, letting everyone enjoy the wonderful world of Oz that has been dazzling audiences for years and years.

It is no wonder why this show continues to captivate audiences after all this time. The show is perfect for everyone; students, families, friends. It is ageless and seems almost more relevant in our current time than it did all those years ago. It is a story we all can connect to and that is the true magic that continues to sell out this show night after night. Happy 15 Years Wicked!
