Bandstand is the first Broadway musical to be 6 Certified by Got Your 6, an organization committed to honoring accurate and responsible portrayals of America's veterans in film, television, and theatre. At the 2017 Tony Awards, Dr. Jill Biden, former Second Lady of the United States, explained exactly what it means to be 6 Certified. "In the armed forces," she said, "Got your six means 'I've got your back.'" The writers of the new musical Bandstand have that same powerful message for our veterans: "We've got your back." Bandstand tells the gripping story of a group of World War II veterans returning from war to find themselves changed. As they try to find themselves again, they discover the healing power of music.
