Dreaming of Summer

Dreaming of Summer

It may still be winter, but inside we’re dreaming of summer. Luckily, some of our favorite Broadway shows are here to help. If you need a little pick-me-up to make it through the next few months, then get yourself to one of these four fantastic shows!

SpongeBob SquarePants The Broadway Musical

It’s always warm in Bikini Bottom—but maybe it’s getting a little too warm.

When a nearby volcano threatens to erupt, the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom are thrown into a panic! Do they flee? Try to save their town? And how? The stakes have never been higher, the antics have never been crazier and the music has never been better as your favorite cartoon characters take the Broadway stage.

With an array of beloved characters and a songbook by an impressive roster of Grammy Award winning rock and pop artists (John Legend, Cyndi Lauper and David Bowie, just to name a few,) SpongeBob SquarePants The Broadway Musical is the perfect fun and sunny stand-in for the season we’re all waiting for.

Escape to Margaritaville

What’s a better reminder of summer than margaritas and island getaways?

Take a mini-vacation with Escape to Margaritaville. Join Tully, a laid-back singer-songwriter who doesn’t take life (or anything) too seriously, that is until Rachel, a driven and career-focused tourist, comes to town and suddenly gives Tully a reason to examine his unexamined life.

Filled to the salt-rim with all your Jimmy Buffett favorites, including “Come Monday,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and, of course, “Margaritaville,” this show is like a one-night vacation. So grab a Hawaiian shirt and head to the Marquis Theatre to sing along. After all, it’s summer somewhere.

Once On This Island

Transport yourself to the Caribbean and gather around the village storytellers of Once On This Island.

Come listen to the captivating tale of Ti Moune, a young peasant girl on a journey to reunite with her love—not matter the cost. Caught up in the tension between the rigid social classes on her island, and—unbeknownst to her—a bet between the gods of Love and Death, Ti Moune must prove that love is strong enough to do what seems impossible—bring worlds together.

Be warmed by the magic of possibility at Once On This Island, and let this inspiring and beautiful story remind you that when we come together we can weather any storm.

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical

Okay. So Summer: The Donna Summer Musical might not actually be summery in the seasonal sense, but with more than 20 of Donna Summer’s hits, including “Bad Girls,” “Love To Love You Baby,” and “Hot Stuff,” it’s sure to be a good time.

In this highly anticipated new musical, no less than three actresses (Storm Lever, Ariana DeBose, and Tony Award winner LaChanze) take on three different incarnations of the music icon. Join Duckling Donna, Disco Donna, and Diva Donna, in this inspiring and vivid look at the life of a legend.

With performances beginning at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in just a few weeks, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical has just the fiery energy you need to make it through the rest of this wintery season.
